Satellite C665D-S5130 weighs around 5 pounds which is lighter when compared to other notebook in 15 inches range. The exterior and interior is coated with matte black. The patterned grid texture gives it a dull look, and give a very nice grip to hold the laptop. Above the keyboard there lies Speakers, which are totally black and oval in shape.
During the heat test the notebook remained cool. When hulu was played keeping the video in full screen mode for about 15 min the temperature of the keyboard was 23 degrees and the temperature at the touchpad measured 82 degrees, the most hottest place was near the vent. Touchpad and Keyboard
Satellite C665D-S5130 has full sized keyboard and is pretty responsive. The spring back action was good. But one concern was that the size of spacebar is diminished which made us to press the alt button accidentally. The ctrl button was big enough.
Coming to touchpad, it’s wide and nice. The size of touchpad is 3.2×1.6 inch and has multitouch capabilities which can be used for zooming purpose. The experience for two-finger scrolling is pretty good and there are two discrete buttons for mouse click.
Satellite C665D-S5130 has 15.6 inches display and has a screen resolution of 1366×768. The colors are popping and crisp, while the horizontal viewing angles were fine, but the vertical viewing angles were constricted and the glossy panel distracted us while viewing the screen.
The overall volume of speaker was good, when volume was kept at 75 percent the sound could be heard in a room. When the volume was kept to 100 percent there was no much distortion. The treble and bass effect was not noticeable.
Webcam and ports
The webcam was bit disappointing. The camera dint capture filtered pictures. The images which were captured were pixilated and the color looked as if it was dead.
For this kind of system, many ports could be accommodated. There are two USB ports, VGA, Ethernet, DVD +/-R, card reader, Headphone and microphone jack. It’s not surprising that there is no HDMI port, because of the price. But we could expect Bluetooth and some more USB ports which is not included in the system.
