Samsung Chat 335 Review

Samsung Chat 335 is targeted at the youngsters who frequently keep them busy with texting and networking. The phone of course is very attractive and appealing. It has great features in its kitty.

Design and Build quality

Samsung has not just glued to normal QWERTY design but also have enhanced the phone’s look and feel. Chat 335 has a superior metallic frame which provides it an elegant look. The QWERTY keypad is outlined well where each and every key can be reached easily. The optical trackpad at the center is well-situated and it responds very quickly. The rear case has a unique design and offers you a good grip over the phone.

The left spine houses volume rocker and there’s nothing on the right edge. The top side holds 2 ports for mini-USB cable and audio jack. It would’ve been nice if the USB port had a small door in order to keep it away from dust. However, the overall design is very good with first-class build quality.

Interface

The OS is Java-based and you don’t get to see any fresh thing in the interface. On the other hand, it is quite easy to handle and you don’t notice any lagging while operating. Within the settings you’ll find Smart Home option which allows you select between different homescreen options. There’s Smart Idle mode where you’ll get quick launcher for number of options such as messaging, Twitter, Facebook etc. The rest 3 modes are usual where the screen shows only the digital clock. Though you might take time to get used to Smart Idle mode but after that you’ll find it pretty easy.

Customizing the screen with themes and fonts of your choice of course is not a new feature available on the phone but nevertheless it is a good add-on. On the whole, the user interface is excellent with no hitches in between that might annoy you in the end.

Incase if you are browsing web via high-speed router then you’ll realize how easy it is to employ Chat 335 for different Internet based apps such as checking mails, news feed on Facebook. Bluetooth is also good and transferring of files takes place swiftly.

The SNS integration like Twitter and Facebook can be accessed easily. Facebook does have its own system for informing users about their buddies, and that too is pretty easy-to-handle. You get MSN, Yahoo Messenger options for chatting.

Media

It won’t take you much time to recognize that the phone is not exactly meant for media enthusiasts. You cannot expect more with a truly normal screen. But nonetheless, the handset is able to entertain you for around 30 minutes.

The music player supports MP3 and AAC+ files and video playback of MP4 and H.264 formats are possible. Though the audio is not up to the mark, video is pretty standard. The FM Radio is a good option however not the best to come across.

Camera

A 2MP camera though not the best attribute of the phone, it captures good pictures. The colors don’t look too flushed-out but you should select the highest resolution for that case. The indoor shots look dull when compared to outdoor ones but however they are quite acceptable.

Other Features

The handset ropes in all the general features like Bluetooth Messenger, Organiser, Stopwatch, Voice recorder, Dictionary, Timer etc. All these applications are as easy-to-use as they can get. You also can download few precise Samsung apps through the Samsung App option.

Battery

Battery life is another field which impresses you somewhat. With the normal routine calls, multimedia usage and texting, the battery can survive for quite a period. One complete charge can last for about 1.5 to 2 days. Hence the battery life is one of the highlights.

Conclusion

The phone is tagged at Rs. 5,800 which initially appears to be good charge. The unsorted question is whether it is suitable for heavy-text users or the 24/7 social-networking addicts. If you are ok with the average multimedia as well as camera support then the Chat 335 truly deserves your purchase. It is not the finest, but clearly falls into worth-the-money category.
