Most of us would have already seen the laptops that belong to the A665 line up of Toshiba Satellite and also the laptops that make use of the 3D Vision technology of Nvidia. We can simply guess the performance of the latest Satellite A665 series laptop, the 3DV as it uses the multimedia system that is familiar and also supports the 3D Vision. It is a powerful laptop that has built in 3D compatible hardware. Therefore it requires only a tiny USB IR emitter and rechargeable 3D glasses. This complete set is less cumbersome than the Nvidia 3D Vision equipped desktops.

The A665 3DV looks and feels like the other laptops that belong to the Satellite A665 series. Most part of the body is made of a gray plastic that is textured. This construction makes it similar to the less expensive devices. The design is not bad but it lacks any attraction. The construction may not be attractive and showy, but it gives the laptop a strong, sturdy and solid feel. The laptop does not experience any flex under the keyboard like the other laptops that are available in the same price range. The palm rest and the lid feature a good textured pattern that resists the finger prints.
The A665 3DV uses an island styled keyboard that is used nowadays. The keys are all flat topped and are spaced widely. The keyboard also has a separate number pad on the right side. There is also a row of touch optimized media control keys just above the Function keys. Usually, the Toshiba laptops have an issue with the media buttons. These keys emit a loud beep and this occurs even when hitting the mute button. The A665 3DV has improved media buttons and the mute does not produce this beep sound. However, the volume control keys produce the beep on hitting them.
The touch pad is quite large and it is slightly offset to the left side of the laptop owing to the presence of the number pad. It features a nice, friction free texture and has a couple of large mouse buttons. There is a button on the top of the touch pad that is used to disable the touch pad when an external mouse is connected. The display sported in the A665 3DV is of15.6 inches and it has a native resolution of 1,366 x 768 pixels. This is common to the laptops of this size. The display is glossy and it improves the appearance of the videos and photos. It obviously increases the reflection and the glare.
The laptop has a good collection of ports and interfaces. It has a VGA port, an HDMI port, 3 USB ports, an USB/eSATA port, an Express Card slot and a memory card reader. The USB/eSATA port is equipped with the Sleep and Charge feature of Toshiba and hence it lets us charge the devices like the MP3 players, cell phones and other type of USB devices.
The A665 3DV has an impressive component set. It uses a 1.73 GHz Core i7 processor of Intel and a good graphics processor of Nvidia GeForce. The laptop has powerful hardware that is required for the 3D processing. We can play games even at the high settings without sacrificing the frame rate on switching to the 3D mode. The A665 3DV uses a 12 cell battery that is capable of running only for about 2 hours. This battery life is low and it is regrettable but it is reasonable when considering the high power gaming performance.
