Some of the customers would have concluded that Sony will be selling the e-readers only on the company’s home turf. But the company actually has abandoned the e-reader market of Japan in the year 2007. Now, Sony is returning back to the Japanese market with the release of new models with touch screen displays. The sales of these products in Japan will debut from 10th of December. The cost of the products is listed below.

It is reported that Sony will release along with 20,000 Japanese language titles in its own e-book store. The company is expecting to sell around 300,000 readers within the first year and to win half of the domestic market within the year 2012. The current competitor for the Sony Readers is the Apple iPad. Sharp is also expected to release two tablets under the new Galapagos brand. Meantime, Amazon is also planning to make some release.
