Creative has come up with a new set of Bluetooth wireless speakers in the form of “Creative Inspire S2 Wireless”. Over the years the wireless audio streaming through Bluetooth is not appealing much. There are various reasons for this. Bluetooth speakers cost more than typical PC speakers. It cost you whopping $150, fairly affordable. These speakers are small as well, particularly for 2.1 speaker model, which includes a dedicated subwoofer.
The Inspire S2’s sub measures 9 inches tall, 8 inches wide and 7 inches deep and you can hide them under the desk. They are so tiny that you will hardly notice them.
There is an auxiliary input and a headphone on right speaker for connecting other audio gadgets like portable video players or music phones. The volume controls and power button provided doubles the sound output; you just need to hold them for few seconds to put the speakers in pairing mode.
Despite the “wireless” tag, the inspire S2’s tiny satellite speakers need to connect to subwoofer through wires. Also there is a power cord connected to the subwoofer. A knob has been provided for adjusting bass levels.
Once you fixed the location of the speakers around the room, and then you will have the freedom to move around the room with your laptop and not bothering being tethered to a bunch of speakers to get the audio. You can stream the audio from the any A2DP compatible Bluetooth sources such as iPhone, iPod and other media phones to these speakers without any hassle.
The S2 has a USB dongle, with which you can connect to your computer and the drivers will get install automatically. The USB dongle is compatible for both Mac PCs and Windows. The wireless audio streaming is limited to range of 30 feet. The dongle has to get connected to the speakers automatically once you made the setup. The setup is easy and you need not struggle much to accomplish this Bluetooth. You can connect it to PC, laptops and iPhone 3GS easily.
Apart from breeze settings, the sound quality is excellent for its size. The Inspire S2 offers good bass system and fine detailed sound. The speakers play fairly loud at highest volume levels. At one point you may think that you would have better speakers at the same range but the wireless streaming is the key here.
If you want wired 2.1 speaker system for a less than $100, then you can go for the Altec Lansing’s Expressionist Plus, which has similar quality as the Inspire S2. But you don’t get Bluetooth there. Though it may not blow you away with sounds, but it still manages to offer louder and clearer sound than its rivals from its tiny speakers. These speakers are well suited for small rooms.
