Cadillac CTS was first introduced in 2002 as the replacement of Cadillac Catera and was named the best car ever made by an American manufacturer. Its V series first introduced in 2004 was a mid sized sedan with V8 engine. The latest version of Cadillac CTS-V series is released for 2010. There are a lot of V series cars coming around but what is important is the image.
Design:
The exterior design of the car is a regular modern feature of the CTS with a revised front and rear faces, 19-inch aluminum wheels and a raised hood. It has a much more aggressive look over the regular CTS.
Its interior design looks similar to the regular CTS with soft interior and plenty of room inside. The suspension exactly like the way in regular CTS but it is most efficient while accelerating, decelerating and turning.
Performance:
Cadillac claims CTS-V as the world fastest V8 sedan. The super charged 6.2 liter, V8 engine provides a 558 hp which is more than enough to make 60 mph in just below 4 seconds. To be exact, it took just 3.9 seconds. Cadillac CTS-V was tested for its performance in the Nerber green track in Germany. It completed in 7 minutes and 59 seconds the whole 13 miles track. What makes it amazing is the Chevrolet Corvette C6 completed in the track in 7 minutes and 43 seconds. Wondering why it is amazing? The biggest advantage of accommodating 3 people in passenger goes to the Cadillac CTS-V with that amazing speed.
What ever the speed you drive, it is backed up the Brembo brakes with 6 piston calipers at front and 4-piston at the rear wheels. The wheels have got rotor of more than 14 inches. Cadillac CTS-V is also features magnetic ride control which includes electromagnetically controlled shocks to adjust in curved roads. As for a sports car, it includes two modes of driving, a sport and a tour. With its amazing speed, you will never get to switch it to tour mode. However, if you are traveling with your family, tour mode is advisable as the luxury comes along with the option.
Features:
The car is available in two transmission option with one as the 6-speed automatic transmission with shifters on the steering and a smooth 6-speed manual transmission. One of the important features that come along with the car is the 14-way adjustable seats. Whatever the position of the seats maybe, they just hold you.
Cadillac CTS-V can be compared with the Mercedes Benz E63 AMG and BMW M5. The basic model starts at just $61,000 which makes it more than $20,000 less than its competitors with all same features and in fact faster.
Final words would be that, even with an enhanced aggressive look, it sounds like the previous CTS. It would have been great if the badge size is increased and the sound is more aggressive. So far, BMW M5 with the V10 which was considered the fastest sedan. Here it is, the Cadillac CTS-V with V8 engine which has come to back it up. The car is a wonderful option for track race and for day-to-day drive. No one will ever miss a monster for 20 to $30,000 less.
