Nokia 5250 Preview

Nokia is best known for providing brilliant mobile phones with fresh design. There were rumors about Nokia launching its new mobile handset 5250 when its pictures were leaked a couple of weeks ago. Now it has official announced the launch of Nokia 5250 which is user friendly and serves the best features. It is a music centric device and has modern looks with fully loaded software which is rear among this type of mobiles. Usually most of the touchscreen devices will not be affordable coz of its high price but Nokia has made this possible by offering its 5250 at a reasonable price. It is an entry level touchscreen phone aimed at youngsters who seek for a stylish design with good music performance. It is very comfortable for home use as well as traveling. It is the higher version of 5230/5235 handset and is ready to roll in the market during Q4 of this year.


Nokia 5250 has modern design with stylish looks. It has a compact design with dimension of 105 x 50 x 14 mm and weighs around 106 g along with the battery. It has a classic 2.8” TFT resistive touchscreen with stylus or finger input for handwriting recognition. It has up to 16 million colors and a resolution of 640 x 360 pixels. It has dedicated camera and volume keys to its right. Its width is reduced and hence offers brilliant output. Below the display are the special buttons, call, menu and end call. It has QWERTY keyboard placed on the screen and also use alphanumeric keypad for typing. It is available in Dark grey, Red, Blue, White and purple colors. It can easily fit into one’s pocket or bag.

It features a 2 mega pixel camera with 2592 x 1544 resolution and support JPEG format for still images. It has portrait camera mode and also has a photo editor option. It has the capability to capture videos in VGA, H.264 at up to 30 fps and the length of the video clip depends on the free available memory. It features setting up of color tone effect and white balance with up to 4x digital zoom. Playback of H.263, MPEG-4, H.264 and WMV videos are supported. It also features Ovi music support, Ovi music Unlimited and a stereo FM radio. It has a 2mm connector for charger and the connectivity is via 2.0 Stereo Bluetooth, micro 2.0 USB and a 3.5mm AV connector. Communication is via email and messaging. It allows instant messaging via Ovi Chat and has unified SMS/MMS editor with audio messaging through Nokia Xpress. It also provides support for video streaming, 2.0 Adobe flashLite and 2.0 Java TM MIDP.

Other applications it supports are Converter, Web search, World Clock, Calculator, Calendar, Voice Recorder, Active Notes, Contacts with presence, Countdown timer, Ovi Store, Stopwatch, Ovi Contacts, My Nokia, Macromedia Flash Player, Widgets such as My Space, Facebook, Hi5, YouTube and Friendster, video and image editor, Full Web browser and Switch. It does not feature Wi-Fi, 3G or GPS.


Nokia 5250 is a mid range device and offers pretty good performance. The messaging and Java features are easy to use. It can play music for up to 24 hours. The battery performance depends on availability of network and its usage. Performance of camera is not up to the mark. It could have been better.
