Intel has announced that new Atom processors that powers PC tablets and smartphones. The new Atoms will be named as Z6 series. These new processor includes MSIC (Mixed signal IC) and the controller Hub MP20. The significant factor in smartphones is the idle mode power as they will be activated most of the time and Intel has managed to reduce it by 50X. With this Atom processor on 1500mAh powered Smartphone, it offers continuous music playback up to 2 days and video playback up to 5 hours.
Intel has released exact release date for the Z6 Atom processors. As Intel announced in the Mobile World Congress held in February that it will promote MeeGo mobile operating system. It also has Windows as the alternative option. Intel is trying to give competition for ARM based processors from Nvidia, Broadcom. Intel wants to enter mobile processor segment with more and more powerful product.
