HP Pavilion dv6t Review

HP abbreviation of Hewlett-Packard is in a great competition in order to prove itself to be the king in the notebook manufacturing. The company is not only trying to prove this in the United States but in the global level. A couple of years back, HP was rated to be the leading laptop seller in the world. The major credit of this success goes to the retail partners of HP who sell the laptops that are branded with the HP tag. The Pavilion dv6t from HP is centered at the media applications and it is sure to offer complete entertainment.

The Pavilion dv6t has the appearance of a cheap laptop instead of looking like a budget model. The lid features a glossy texture and a shiny coating. The exterior enclosure of the laptop is not resistant to the finger prints. There is a checkered pattern on the lid which is also evident on the palm rest. The laptop weighs around 2.9 kilograms and this figure indicates that it can be carried all around but there is some difficulty as the keyboard adds some additional weight. This model is available in a variety of colors such as champagne, shell white, midnight blue, sonoma red and black cherry.

The Pavilion dv6t features a 16 inch wide screen display with the Bright View technology of HP. The display has a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels. There are many other models with higher resolutions for a smaller display. Hence the resolution is a skimp in this model. The screen is glossy and hence it reflects light. The reflections and the glare that are produced make it difficult to use the laptop under the fluorescent lighting conditions.

The keyboard of the dv6t is quite fabulous. It has a very large keypad with keys that are laid out neatly. The numeric pad is spaced generously though it seems to be cramped. The keypad is too beautiful as it is large as the screen. HP has to be praised for this type of designing. The keyboard offers a good typing experience as it allows the users to type quickly.

The Pavilion dv6t is loaded with lot of ports on the either side. The laptop provides room to 3 USB ports, a USB/eSATA combo port, a VGA port, a HDMI port, a LAN socket, a memory card reader supporting up to 5 different types of cards and an Express card slot.

The dv6t makes use of a fast processor that makes it easy to perform the everyday tasks like the word processing and web browsing. It is fast not only in the basic functions but also in photo editing, video editing and in viewing the high definition content. The graphics performance reflects the price. The model is not a gaming device. There are options to get the ATI graphics card that is powerful for the gaming. This is subject to a cost of $150 to $300. The standard six cell battery has a life of about 3 hours. There are other battery options to increase the life.
