The Z410G is one of the all in one PCs that less attractive. The desktop has a 21.5 inch screen which is surrounded with a thick and squared off bezel of black color. The display fits in an awkward manner on the top of the silver stereo speakers that are enormous and large. This device is sure not to win any award for its styling. But still it has a construction that reflects the goal of the company in designing it as a serious machine for the business purposes. We however wish that Acer could have put some more effort in improving the aesthetic appeal of the design. This especially is required in the way the display looks as if it is popped on the top of the speakers carelessly.
The Z410G has a 21.5 inch wide screen LCD display. This screen has a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and an aspect ratio of 16:9. The matte finished screen offers good color reproduction. The colors are crisp, bright and possess clear details. The contrast is on the low side. The viewing of the screen off the axis produces good pictures. The matte texture on the screen is good in reducing the glare and the reflections that are annoying. It is however not effective under the bright light conditions.
Ports and Buttons
There are series lights on the right side below the display. Some of these are notification lights while the others indicate the buttons that can be found by inserting the finger in the crack that is there between the speakers and the screen. These buttons control the volume and the brightness. These are useful but not highly impressive. The Z410G also has a good collection of ports for the business consumers. The left side of the Z410G’s chassis has the gigabit Ethernet port, a VGA port, six USB 2.0 ports, three audio line in ports an eSATA port, a COM port, a serial port, two PS/2 ports and a DVI in port. The right side of the chassis has the headphone jack, microphone jack and the other two USB 2.0 ports.
Keyboard and Mouse
The Z410G makes use a basic type of keyboard and mouse. Both these input devices are equipped with the PS/2 serial connectors. Neither the keyboard nor the mouse is comfortable to use. The keyboard is light in weight and it is made of matte black plastic. The keys are large and are wide too. They are also flat and soft to touch while hey offer some physical feedback. The mouse is a basic one with three buttons. It has sharp and squared off corners that on the top that make it uncomfortable. Though these devices are not too comfortable, they are fine for the casual users.
The Z410G is included with an appropriate suite of applications such as Acer Security Suite, Acer Client Manager and Acer eRecovery Management. Other than these it has the basic ones like Acrobat Reader, Google Toolbar, Skype, Microsoft Office Starter 2010, CyberLink power DVD, Nero 9 Essentials, Veriton Control Center and Norton Online Backup. It also includes the trialware of McAfee Internet Security.
The Veriton Z410G of Acer is however a good business PC with a decent and elegant performance. It is decent enough provided it is not involved in performing high end gaming and graphics work. It offers ample amount of connectivity for a moderate price. The display has a resolution that is good for the playback of the 1080 pixel high definition videos. The playback is good though not perfect. The streaming of high definition videos has some issues. The playback of DVD is fine with some artifacting at times. But these issues are not too serious. The integrated graphics is not capable enough to offer good gaming support. Pros – decent video playback quality and efficient multi-tasking. Cons – unappealing chassis design.
