Internet giant “Google” is testing a latest TV programming search service in collaboration with “Dish Network Corporation”. Google has taken this initiative to combine Internet content with traditional Televisions.
The television’s set-top box runs using the Google’s Android OS. This service which operates on the Television set top boxes preloaded with Google software, facilitates user to browse the shows on the satellite TV services and as well as videos from YouTube. Dish has over 14 million TV subscribers. It also enables the users to personalize a show’s line up i.e. tagging the shows in the electronic program guide. This definitely narrows the gap between the TV and internet. You can type using keyboard instead of TV remote control.
Google aimed at linking the TV search engine with TV ad-brokering business “Google TV ads”. Google can generate revenue by featuring ads to individual households based on TV search data, the news paper and viewing.
