World’s fastest processor Power6
IBM has said that it is the 1st UNIX microprocessor which is able to calculate decimal floating point arithmetic in hardware.
The built-in decimal floating point number having this capability gives advantage for those who are running tax, financial, and ERP programs.
IBM has launched fast microprocessor in the world.
The dual core power 6 processor runs with speed of 4.7GHZ.In the press release they said it almost doubles the previous power 5 generation and also it uses the same amount of electricity for running and to cool it.
This will be done by shifting the low power processor functions in to the separate functions of the chips.
Processor clock can be turned off when there is no work to be done by the processor again it can be turned on when there is an instruction to execute.
It will response to the Intel core2duo processor.
This processor is based on the 65 nanometer architecture.
It consists of 448 processor cores on each rack of the system the power 575 offers the 5X faster then its predecessor.
Power6 based on power 550 can have unto 3,752users.results of this shows that’s now it started to beat the competitions.
