GSM association meets which held in Europe has decided to launch a universal phone charger in next coming year. It got various advantage like it will stop shipping a new charger with each handset also it avoids users to have a different charger for different devices.
It saves the huge amount of the resource. The companies which have signed up for this Nokia, Motorola, Orange, Qualcomm, Samsung, Sony Ericsson, T-Mobile, 3 Vodafone and HTC.
Chinese government mandated the use of MICRO-USB standard for the phone charger in
2006.
According to panel, Micro-USB has more long life.
Micro-USB can with stand 10,000 insertions were as Mini-USB can with stand only 1000 insertion so they have opted for Micro-USB.
