Stretch the Muscles
Stretches apart from increasing flexibility enhances physical fitness, equipped with ability to execute skilled movements, eliminate the risk of injury to muscles and tendons, increased awareness of body etc. In order to gain the complete advantages that stretches has to offer it should be performed under supervision.
Follies committed during stretching include overstretching, insufficient warm-up, inadequate interval between exercises, wrong workouts
Warming up is an integral part of stretching wherein the body temperature is elevated. The basic idea is to stretch when the muscles are warm thus reducing the risk of injury. The objective is to enhance elasticity, co-ordination and contractibility. It can be divided into three phases:
1: Basic Warm-up
2: Stretching activity
3: Cardio
The basic warm-up comprises of:
1: Rotation of joints such as shoulders elbows, legs, ankles (lubrication of the joints through synovial fluid)
2: aerobic exercise (increase the cardio-vascular performance)
Warm-up stretching basically consists of:
1: Static Stretching
2: Dynamic Stretching
