Sony VAIO X {VPC – X115KX/N Signature Collection, Gold}
Sony, as we all know is always a threat to all electronic goods manufacturing company, may it be Apple, Samsung, Acer and many more. For this season, Sony has taken its position next to Apple in manufacturing Netbooks. For sometime, Sony had kept itself away from manufacturing and marketing low-power systems, low-cost systems which were admired extremely by some negotiating customers. Its consequent ingresses have evaded the outer edges and are offering those finest designs at their best values. The latest of Sony is VAIO X Netbook which is much more improved than its atom powered high concept P series.
VAIO X is only one foot and is terrifically light and thin. Carbon fiber has been used to build up the chassis which has helped in making this Netbook incredibly thin and light. Even the solid-state hard drive plays a significant task in giving us this light, thin Netbook. The battery back up of this Netbook is great and has been provided with extendable battery. This is an 11 inch, high-end ultra portable Netbook. When several people picked it up, they were astonished to witness that it was weightless and asked whether it was a mock, dummy build up, in spite of a copious performing PC!
Even though the price of this Netbook seems to be costly with a price of $1,499.99, it consists of 2.0GHz Intel’s Atom Z550 which is much better than other Atom CPU’s. VAIO X is incorporated with Windows 7 and has a 2GB RAM making it faster than any other notebooks and thus making it an indispensable Netbook level performer with a very dear package. Experience of using this gives really great pleasure and enjoyment no matter which place you are in. People seldom look into luxury in these commodities, but it goes a long way based on the them and I’m sure VAIO X will certainly take a place in hearts of those people who are looking for a brag-worthy tête-à-tête consign.
VAIO X is only half an inch thick and gives maximum visual impact. It weighs around 1.5 pounds which doesn’t include extended battery or A/C adapter. This is available in clingy gold color with subtle matte finish, hence the name ‘Signature Collection.’ Design of SSD is in such a way that it is extremely light and thus rendering the whole Netbook weightless. Carbon fiber which is rugged in construction has made lid, bend a bit too much especially while opening and closing of the lid, making it feel a bit fragile.
Keyboard is quite standard with widely spaced keys and flat top which also works well with the larger laptops. When it comes to the individual keys of the Netbook sized component, they are a bit too tiny. A touch pad on the side is a small square and there is a lot of empty space near the wrist rest. There are neither media control buttons nor quick launch buttons except a power button. The screen of this Netbook is 11.6 inch wide with LED display and offering a resolution of 1366 x 768. Thankfully the screen is not glossy and the images are bright and clear. Memory stick slot has been provided in here while only one audio jack which should be shared between mic and headphone for usage. As this is too slim, there’s no room for Ethernet jack itself as the data cable can be barely accommodated with this.
The jack for standard VGA juts out from the other side but it would have been better if there was a HDMI port rather than this. Integrated with Intel’s Atom processor, 2GB RAM, 128GB SSD drive, Windows 7 Home premium and mobile broadband antenna, which are all high end parts, makes this system so expensive. As price of this is incredibly high, performance level is also high. The Intel Atom Z550 at 2.0 GHz speed is faster than Atom N270 and N280 processors which are found to be implemented in most of the Netbooks. This system is simply greater and faster than any system (Netbook) right now. This Netbook is suitable to perform basic task like e-mail and Web surfing.
On conclusion I would like to tell you that, if you want best built in quality and design, without a second thought you can prefer VAIO X, but if you want incredible performance then this doesn’t reach your expectation like other Netbooks have done, which are engulfed with dual core ULV Intel processor or HD video playback etc. Hats off to Sony which has experimented boldly and put a benchmark with the high end luxuries inculcated in this Netbook.
