Review on Lenovo ThinkPad SL510 laptop

Lenovo is one of the leading laptop and notebook manufacturing company. Lenovo has introduced its new SL510 ThinkPad which is 15-inch and is a bough of the streak. SL510 is a slender changed version of SL series. It offers a chassis which is lighter than the previous version, changed buttons and screen of 16:9. Laptop is a bit bulky and has a more classic look than SL500 ThinkPad. This looks like more than T or R series laptop with matte closure and is made up of ThinkPad like fabric where LED lights plunge out. It is the welcome alter that everybody is looking forward to have.

The shape of SL510 is as same as those of previous SL models. SL510 is tagged with a price of $499 and this laptop weighs around 5.7 pounds. ThinkPad is equipped with a 3GB RAM, a processor of Core 2 Duo P8700, hard disk-320GB, Windows 7 (Professional), DVD burner and Intel 5100 AGN Wi-Fi. Intel’s integrated graphics is used with this to push the resolution of the screen to 1366 x 768. The battery life of the ThinkPad is quite longing as this is a solid build robust laptop. As this laptop is thick and hefty, it is difficult to carry on to places. Inward sloping is present at the underside of the laptop.

This ThinkPad has a black robust tactile feedback keyboard with an Enter Key which is of light blue shade. It has 6 rows of keys and dual cursor control. There are keys on the sides of the keyboard too. Red track point nitty-gritty is at the middle of the keyboard. To the right side of the keyboard there is power button and status lights while to the left is the volume key. The edges of SL510 are not that much tapering like the old one. It’s rather very vaguely tapered that you can’t even make it out but can feel it. With the cover closed, you can see only the sleep and battery lights outside the chassis which are plain. There are two USB ports present in the slot where they have very little upright clearance. If you have a thick USB modem to fix in, it’s quite difficult or it might not fix into that slot itself.

SL510 is a 15inch system which is of liberally sized and also it contains many ports viz., 3 slots for USB, lock port, VGA out, a card reader, eSATA + USB combo port, HDMI, Ethernet, headphone / mic jacks and express card/34. Card reader which is handy is in the place of Modem port. Even microphone and webcam is present in the ThinkPad with a standard 20V power connection and a wireless switch used to on / off. These ports are named near the palm rest, making things easy and quick to find out.

This keyboard is spill-resistant which is of a grave help to the business people. The arrangement of the ThinkPad protects the internal workings by guiding the fluid to the drain outlet at the bed of the laptop. Both touchpad and the track point are present in SL510. Track point provides the amplified accuracy and also it helps in moving around the desktop without making you to lift your fingers rancid from the home row. For those who don’t like the usage of track point, you can obviously use the touchpad which has a matte finished surface. Even you can zoom in and zoom out the Web pages and images just by pinching on the touchpad and also by rotating two fingers you can re-orient the pictures, scroll up/down the Web pages and also swap the pages. The webcam present in here is of 2 MP and doesn’t give good quality images when taken through it. Whenever a call is made from this, the sound quality is twanged with the muffled colors. Even though the display, graphics and the components are average, this system will be a perfect replace for the internet efficiency and desktop works. Though the tools of ThinkPad software are a perk which sets the system apart from the others, when compared to the HP ProBook, this system lacks the security tools.
