Review on Dell Inspiron 14z
Dell has again unveiled its new Inspiron 14z which is equipped with good looks and long battery life. It is as usual glossy, stylish and handy. This laptop is tagged with a price of $849. Although, you feel that this laptop is a reprography of Dell Studio 14z, it’s not the truly same because of the aesthetic looks. It said to be sleek and slender because of its dimensions 13.4 x 9.5 x 1.1 inches. The frame of the monitor and keypad is encircled with the silver wrist pad. This laptop is not light weight as it looks. Some of the specifications of this laptop are given below: integrated graphics card, 3GB memory, Windows 7 (64-bit) OS and 1.3GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Mobile SU7300 processor. This is quite disappointing about the laptop. Web surfing and processing the word was fine even with the heavy loads.
Firefox tab and office apps were opening quickly even if there were heavy load. The amazing fact of this laptop is that it has a very grave battery life with 7hrs and 10mins. The screen is 14in with 1366 x 768 native resolutions and the keyboard is of full size. When you see the Inspiron 14z at a preliminary glimpse it seems to be a middling notebook with 14in flaunt (16:9 screen ratio) and is extraordinarily glossy. It is made up of plastic material and it lacks a backlit keyboard. Way in plates for the RAM and hard drive are provided beneath the notebook. At the bottom of the edge which is in the front is the space for two speakers. The contrast of the image was not that much eye catching but colors were better on the screen. You can set the brightness with the presence of WLED back lighting.
The case of this laptop is a bit robust and the top of this notebook is latch less which is firm enough to hold on. The sound quality was constantly lucid and downy when both DVDs and videos were played. HDMI and VGA ports, 3 USB ports, memory card reader which can be multi formatted and Ethernet are included in this Inspiron 14z. It also includes an 8x DVD/CD burner with dual layer support which is a standard one. The things that lack in this Inspiron 14z are eSATA, ExpressCard and Firewire slots. Hard drive is of 250GB with the speed of 5400 rpm.
The keyboard keys feels like cheap one because they are made up of plastic material which is thin and hit on the keys make you feel that it might break. There is also a touchpad which is placed. You almost feel that working on this type of keypad is contemptible. Touch pad which is present is beneath the keypad where in you have two buttons to access it. There is some software which supports the system and is not that much user friendly. ‘Dell Dock’ is a summation widget which is shipped in the 14z and this gives the simple entrée to the programs by sorting like photos, emails etc.
The core quality of this laptop is the battery life of 7hrs. All the activities performed in here get documented in MS Office but so far it hasn’t won anybody’s heart. You can for sure buy this laptop in place of low battery life average range netbooks. Only thing that’s bugs up is the price of this laptop. Even though it is light weight and easy to handle and use, its performance is not up to the mark and above this, the screen is very glossy which is irritating and even makes hard to view. Finally we can say that this laptop is aimed mainly at students with grave battery life and stylish looks!
