NINJA GAIDEN SIGMA 2

This game is close to be called the sequel of the Ninja Gaiden Sigma which was released in 2007 or similar to the X box 360 exclusive version of 2008. But, this game is completely different and is at its best compared to the above mentioned versions. Although the game has retained the destructive moves from its previous version, the sight of blood is rarely seen. The enemies bleed a peculiar kind of glossy liquid of vibrant colours, while the other enemies contain green blood or oil spilling from their obliterated bodies. The violence present in this is surprisingly low.

The serviceman with his vast experience of Ninja Garden will find the game undoubtedly easy, as his morning walk. The levels in this game are considerably reduced as also the enemies to be faced in each level are in large numbers. The player may cause huge amount of damages resulting in easier winning of battles and hence does not depend on which part of the body the player hits

Till the player reaches the Last level of the game, the ‘Warrior’ level, he can easily rush through the beginning eight or nine levels without having to use the spell Ninpo (magic) on anyone or buy the required healing items. As a matter of fact, Ninpo is not an essential strategy to finish the game, but its more of an uninvited luxury. However, the positive aspect of this game is that the game has the fame of being one of the toughest game to play. The combat in tight mode in this game adds to its beauty.

The weapons of  the X360 version have been completely removed and two ranged weapons are present, which includes the new Howling Cannon. Shurikens (throwing blades used as a weapon by a Ninja) are operated through a button in the gamepad and can be used with anyone of the weapons simultaneously. However, the melee weapons from the X360 game version has been used in this game intact. The game is upgraded with the additional weapon, Dabilahro in its new shape of Enma’s fang.

Rachel, the demon huntress, along with her two maidens from the first Sigma game, make a special entry into this game as joyful, humourous characters. The three of them come into attack with their respective weapons, namely a range weapon, a melee weapon and the Ninpo power. A level is dedicated exclusively to these characters. Though these characters seem to look weak, they are suitably created to fight the enemy troops.

The alternate costumes used for the playful characters is an addition to the game. Comparatively, the game seems to be an improved version of the X360 version. The frame rate is significantly increased as also its installation rate of 3GB. The graphics employed in the game is full resolution (1080p), found scarcely on PlayStation 3. High quality texture along with radiant colours are used which makes the game attractive and more appealing. The downside of the game is its collision issues which cannot be clearly detected.

Once the player finishes a level, the next two levels are unlocked. All of the weapons acquired by the player are retained to the next level by the ‘Chapter Challenge’ mission. The objective of this game is to play to the next levels, increasing your scores and thereby, uploading them on to the online leader boards. There is an other level called the ‘Team Mission’ which provokes the player to face a large number of enemies, but here you can take your friend’s help to share a glorious victory. There is a choice for the player to either choose to play against or become a partner with the three maidens.

While playing with a partner, if you use the ‘Ultimate Ninpo’, a disastrous explosion occurs. During this time, if your friend loses all the points acquired, then you are supposed to help him/her in order to rescue your mission. The termination of the game is followed by the final tallying of the scores and the division of the people killed by you and your partner. Having done this, you can save your game’s video if you wish to. If not, you can jump into the next mission. There are 35 Team Missions in total to be completed with the difficulty level increasing by each level.

If you are playing this game for the first time, you should definitely give it a shot. The game is designed to be favourable to the player though its not as easy as it seems to be. The game takes ten hours to be completed by a single player. Once you have finished, the two levels ‘Chapter Challenge’ and ‘Team Mission’ will take few more hours to be finished. If you are still hesitant about playing this game, then do have a look at the demo of this game present in the PSN store, which is extremely fascinating.
