The recent controversial manifesto of Mulayam Singh Yadav’s narrow-mindedness and insularity to gain popular support by promising to ban English language and computer is unfortunate and ridiculous. Political leaders like him always watch over their personal interest and least thinks abut the massive importance.

As far English language id concerned, it the now considered and world’s standard language. Our first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru also had emphasized the emerging trends of English language in our country. Because, firstly, most of the media fraternity in the field of Science and Technology, IT and ITes, Space Research can be circulated through a common code of language that is English. All the forums, blogs, research documentation are publishing in English. Secondly, for successful business and inter cultural relationship English is very essential. Thirdly, considering the job opportunity, no one can avoid the emergence English in India. Most of the offshore IT and ITes companies have their outsource destinations in India and manipulated through English language- say it software, BPO etc. Though India is progressing rapidly English is very much essential to interact with world.

As far as the idea to computer is concerned, it is merely vague and expression of stupidity. The argument that computer is the cause of unemployment is also, base less. Because, many people are getting jobs with minimal familiarity with computers and IT sector in India is considers as the gigantic source of job. So the need of computer is very essential for trade and business and other sectors and can’t be replaced by manpower. Whether it is aerospace research, industries, nuclear tests, retails market and other spectrum of industries, computer is inseparable part of our pivotal works.
