Microsoft is aiming at giving a new look to its MSN.com home page. Bob Visse, MSN general manager said that MSN home page redesigning is very much essential since it is a big asset for Microsoft’s online business.

The site is in the top most places in about 25 to 46 markets consisting of 600 million users all over the world and 100 million in US itself.
The redesigning of the MSN home page and the site’s butterfly logo is the company’s work of few months. The home page with the new look has many links which focuses on categories like video, news, shopping and search.
The previous site housed dozen of text links at the top and the bottom of the page was entirely for everything from horoscopes to white pages for a free trial of MSN’s dail-up Internet Service. Visse said frankly that the customers are unsatisfied with the clutter of the site and the overstuffed links in the site.
MSN home page provides a column on the right-hand side that allows users to know about their Windows Live, Twitter, and Facebook feeds, and the users are also provided with an opportunity to update their status or even they can post a tweet. Users can have the preview of their Hotmail in-box as before.
Redesigned Home page also provides some silver light-based apps on the right-hand side of the page. Microsoft has introduced wait-and-see approach to roll out more apps than Twitter, Windows Live and Facebook apps that are available at the time of launch.
Yahoo, MSN’s largest competitor, is planning to give a tough competition by redesigning its entire Yahoo web apps on its home page. Yahoo has increased 20% of its spending time in redesigning of its home page.
