Mediterranean Diet reduces Mental Depression
Research says that consumption of Mediterranean diet has an indirect effect on reducing mental depression. It is also found that foods in the Mediterranean diet are linked to reduce the risk of heart attacks and other heart related diseases. It also reduces the occurrence of obesity, diabetes and even life threatening Cancer disease. Since depression is the way to all other diseases, it is better to take initial precautions and measures to take care about this type of disorder.

Mediterranean diet mainly prevents the wide variations in blood sugar levels and thus reduces the risk of inflammation. Recent study proves the benefits of Mediterranean diet especially in lowering the depression level.
Archives of General Psychiatry has prepared a new report in which scientist says that in countries where the individuals consume Mediterranean diets like nuts, fruits, vegetables, fiber, fish and olive oil are less prone to mental and other health disorders. This shows that Mediterranean diet not only leads to long and healthy life but also reduces mental depression.
Red Wine which is the major part of the Mediterranean diet has a positive impact on the health. It promotes good cholesterol levels and reduces the risk of heart attacks and other heart related diseases. From the observations over past fifty years, scientists have discovered the fact that the percentage of health benefits has increased by consuming Mediterranean diet.
After all these researches, the exact reason for the above positive result is not known till now. May be it is due to the fact that the diet fights against the inflammation and repairing the oxygen-related cell damages and thus limiting the heart disease. It also improves the blood vessel functioning and thus reducing the depression and mental related disorders.
Mediterranean diet includes wholesome foods that are loaded with antioxidant agents, minerals and vitamins that keep us away from dangerous diseases like cancer, health problems etc. It mainly lessens the possibility of stroke attacks, diabetes, arthritis and asthma which is the result of depression. Before, Mediterranean diet was preferred due to the fact that it results in long and healthy leaving but it has now taken a good role in reducing the mental stress and depression.
