Company’s first fuel saving vehicle.hybrid car

Seoul, 8th July 2009: Hyundai Motor Company, South Korea’s top car manufacturer launched, first hybrid car in the market.

Hyundai has already succeeded with LPG-powered versions Sonata sedan. Hyundai world’s number 5 car manufacturer along tie up with KIA motors corporation, started for selling Elantra LPI, which is a hybrid model of the compact sedan which uses liquefied petroleum gas and LI polymer batteries.

Elantra was sold as lantra and avante in some European markets which gave rise to some disagreement and name it has Elantra in 2001.

Elantra LPI got a mileage of 17.8kilometers on one liter of LPG or 38.5kilometers for one liters of gasoline.

The car emits 0.09Kg of carbon dioxide per kilometer which meets California’s Super Ultra Low Emission Vehicle standard.

Elantra is limited for Korean market

Hyundai estimates that new car produces the fuel savings of 1.35million won for each year.

Price for Elantra starts with  20.5 million won, which is  equivalent of about $15,700.
