Diabetes is a syndrome of disordered metabolism. The syndrome is also due to the combination of environmental and hereditary causes thus resulting in an abnormal blood sugar levels. If you are one among those who want to have control over diabetes then you have to know lot about yourself and the diabetes. The best way of taking care of diabetes is through regular exercises, having a controlled diet.
Diet
Make sure that you eat foods that are low in salt and fat content. The food must be high in fiber for example: fruits, vegetables and beans etc. Eat food of all groups like cereals, rice, bread, eggs, chicken, fish, meat, milk products, potatoes etc. Regulate your carbohydrate consumption if you have high level of diabetes, since they may cause serious changes in the glucose levels of the blood. Maintain a healthy weight if you are overweight, take some natural weight loss programs that makes your job easier to control the diabetes. Avoid huge meals, have frequent small meals which should be taken at regular intervals.
Exercise
Research says that diabetes can be kept in control by increasing the physical activity and by reducing the sedentary behaviors. Diabetic people must spend at least half an hour or 40 minutes in doing the physical activities or exercises in order to lose their weight and to keep the metabolism process normal. Lack of exercises lead to obesity, which indirectly lead to diabetes. Exercises lower the level of glucose in the blood.
Monitor you blood sugar level
Monitoring your blood sugar level daily helps you to know how the meal that you eat affects the blood sugar levels.
Meditation
Meditating regularly can control your blood pressure and also helps you to lower your cholesterol levels.
Alcohol
If a person taking a diabetic treatment like insulin then he should be away from alcohol since it risks low blood sugar level.
Smoking
Smoking is very dangerous as it increases the risk of blood vessel disease and heart diseases. Hence, it is very important to stop smoking in order to prevent the chances of developing blood vessel diseases and heart diseases.
Regular Check ups
You need to consult your doctor, and has to be done your medical tests regularly so as to check the blood sugar levels to known whether they are in a control or not.
Take care of your body
Your body must be given a special care, because majority of the diabetic patient suffers from sores on their feet that tend to develop into serious wounds, sometimes foot removal is done. Hence, physical examination is very important to check whether there are any cuts, blisters and sores on patient’s body.
