How to get rid of Leg Cramps?

Leg Cramps are caused due to variety of reasons but in general we can tell that it is due to the contraction or stretching of the leg muscles beyond their limit and the strain on the muscles leads to severe pain.

It is very difficult to tell the exact cause of the leg cramp but some of the popular triggers of the cramps may cause chronic leg cramps. Al most every one suffers from these cramps in one or the other stages of their life and they also leads to the soring of the leg muscles.

A woman is more likely to suffer from these leg cramps especially at her pregnancy time and it continues if she has diabetic problems etc. It may be also due to the arteriosclerosis since there will be reduced flow of blood to the legs and thus causes frequent cramps.

Cramps may be due to the dehydration, lack of sufficient amount of water that is needed to fluid the body is the main reason. Hence, keep plenty of fresh water through out the day to reduce such cramps.

You may be prone to such cramps if your body is lack of a balanced diet hence diet including sufficient potassium, calcium and magnesium, multivitamin including minerals is needed in order to reduce those cramps.

Intake of white fish, sea vegetables, beans, fresh fruits, whole grains can minimize the leg cramps effectively. Avoid eating sugary soft drinks, dairy products, and excessive meat since they may trigger the leg cramps.

Stretching the leg muscles slowly and gently can relieve from the leg cramps, one can use warm or heating pads on the muscles or a warm bath can reduce the intensity of the leg cramp since heat enhances good circulation to the muscles.

Applying ice to the swelled area for few minutes’ causes’ relaxation of the contracted muscles thus relieves you from the leg cramps.
