How to Connect your PC to HDMI TV?

There are several means of enjoying the favorite movies and TV shows over a broadband internet connection in the PC for a very small amount of money and even for free sometimes. But what happens is that you can’t watch such media at home because office does not creates a homely environment for you. If you like to enjoy those at your big screen in your living room, this guide will surely help you out in connecting your PC to an HDMI TV.

1)    Look at the cable that comes form your PC’s monitor and follow it to the rear side of the PC. Normally, the cable which you find will be plugged into the video card output which will be either a 29 pin DVI port or a 15 pin VGA port. Sometimes, a first port will be directly present next to it, of either the VGA or DVI type. You may find a regular HDMI port on the card in the recent newest PCs.

2)   Select the video output port which is meant for connection. If your PC has an HDMI port, then there will no problem you just need to connect an HDMI chord of specific length between the TV and PC. Or else, you need to make certain decisions. If your PC has a single video output then you can’t use it solely with your TV, you need to go for a new video card. Purchase a new card with either an HDMI output or DVI variety, then, install it in the particular slot as per the instructions directed in it.

If you like to use VGA output on a single output or to use a dual output card for driving an HDMI display then, it requires a special device for connecting between the two different formats. In such conditions, you can upgrade the card so as to obtain a HDMI port or DVI variety. However, if the output port which you have chosen is the DVI type then you need to purchase DVI to HDMI cable for converting your PC’s output into the HDMI input for your Television.

3)   HDMI cable is connected from your TV to your PC. A suitable converter or an adopter is installed to your computer under necessary conditions. You should connect the cords from the sound card output to the HDMI video cable until and unless your PC has HDMI output since HDMI can carry both type of signals i.e. audio signals as well as video signals.

4)   Now, Reboot your computer and configure the new display by visiting “Control Panel” which is in the “Start” Menu. Double Click on the ‘Display” option and then on the “Settings” tab. You can configure the resolution of your interest in the “Settings” option by clicking “Advanced” button in order to set the refresh rate.

If you wish to use your HDMI TV as the second monitor then you need to configure as how it is used by the Windows, as per the guide lines with respect to video card. Most of the cards comes with a “Mirror” or “Clone” mode, in which both the screens display the same type of content. On the other hand, an “Extended Desktop” mode can be configured where in each of the two monitors operates independent of each other.

5) Once again reboot your Computer in order to apply the changes. Now, your big-screen HDMI TV is ready to entertain you with your favorite movies and shows.
