Michael Richter, Deputy General Counsel of Facebook has written in a company’s blog saying that the votes were unnecessary according to Facebook’s rules.

Richter also added that the changes involve the simplification of the language that is used to describe and define the policy and document’s new infrastructure and those changes were supported by the members.

An investigation was carried out in July by Canada’s Privacy Commissioner which stated that the Facebook is not concerned about the members’ privacy settings and asked to do it more. Commissioner also expressed that it is easy that members can deactivate their accounts but the process of deleting them is unclear. Facebook might have retained the data of the members from the deactivated accounts for an indefinite span of time.
