BlackBerry Curve 8520 is a low cost Smartphone that is launched in India to suit the needs of the common people. It is a first BlackBerry Smartphone that is well below the Rs. 20K price band whereas other Blackberry solutions fare well above Rs. 31K. Let’s have a look at it.

First Look:

As the name suggests, it has a curvy body, so be aware it does not slip from your hand. Here first time you get to use the dedicated music keys. Gives a glossy finish look that certainly will lure your eyes. As usual it sports a QWERTY keyboard but have been raised slightly for easier tapping. One major change in the interface that can be easily pointed out is the inclusion of trackpad navigation instead of traditional trackball navigation. It’s got a 2 MP camera with 5X digital zoom. Comes with many built-in software like MemoPad, Calculator, WordTo Go, Sheet To Go and so on

Features:

Its dimensions are 10.9cm of height, 6cm of width and 1.39cm breadth. It weighs around 106 grams. Comes with 2 MP camera and 5X digital zoom but does not include flash or auto zoom feature. Provides you with video recording of resolution 320 x 240 and supports video formats like MPEG4, H.263, H.264, and WMV3 etc.

Runs on BlackBerry OS. Includes 512MHz processor and 256MB of internal memory. Apart from this it contains a 2GB memory card. It also packs a Stereo headset, USB cable and 3.5mm headphone jack.

Game lovers can enjoy BrickBreaker, Word Mole, Texas Hold’Em King 2 (Poker), Sudoku and Klondike.

Provides 4.5 hours of talktime along with standby time up to 408 hours.

Connectivity:

Supports EDGE/GPRS, Bluetooth 2.0 and Wifi. GPS can be used but through Airtel network only.

Price: Comes at price tag of Rs. 15,990

Drawback: No 3G support.
