Avoiding Bacterial Infections

Bacteria are present on and inside our body. They are single celled organisms. Bacteria affect people’s health through bacterial infections. They usually emit toxins thereby contaminating the food thus causing Food poisoning, infections and some times serious bacterial diseases.
Some of the bacterial diseases like meningitis, pneumonia, bacterial fever, infections in urinary bladder etc. Anti-bacterial drugs can fight against these bacterial diseases. Along with the treatment, some of the instructions that needs to be followed in order to avoid Bacterial infections and they are
- Washing hands after using toilet, before cooking, after a sneeze or a cough is a must. Washing with hot water and soap often, kills bacteria
- Food should be consumed soon after it is cooked. It should not be kept un-served for a longer time. Avoid salads, pizzas at corners which are prepared long back
- Staphylococcus is a bacterium that lives on the skin surface. Even though it does not harm but when there is a broken skin, it can cause infections and boils
- Meats and vegetables should be chopped on a separate boards and knives in order to prevent cross-contamination
- Cooking place should be kept clean, should be cleaned often. Cooking accessories like utensils, dish towels should be washed in a hot water.
- Use some protective clothing items like gloves, masks so that transmission of the bacteria can be avoided to a certain extent.
