Apple Newton vs Apple iPhone

The Newton is best in its design which is of tablet styled devices and smart phones similar to the iPhone.

The iPhone is perhaps a nice-looking device, small and shiny, large screen and smooth curves. It succeeds Newton’s ground-breaking shape. It is unfussy, one button placed at the front and a glossy icons on the screen.

The Newton handset screen is toneless. It displays only 16 shades of green-touch grey, and includes taillight. Apple Newton has 6 inch display screen and resolution of 480 x 320 pixels similar to iPhone. The iPhone consists of touch screen and it can be turned 90 degrees. The Newton was rotating and twisting its screen prior to the iPhone. The Newton not has its fancy gesture input of the iPhone, but incredibly it consists of fine handwriting recognition.

Newton allows instinctive editing methods; just sketch out triangle, circle and other shapes then it creates drawings and graphs of many-sided things. The iPhone may possibly not surpass screen resolution of Newton although sets pixels tightly into 89mm display and fits easily in the pocket. The 163 pixel/inch resolution provides sharper image.

The best device to use is iPhone because of its touchscreen facility where as Newton is lethargic and insensitive. So people use keyboards on PCs as it is more fast and precise rather than handwriting and tablet styled device. The Newton was leading the way but the iPhone entered through its outstanding capacitive, color screen display.

The Newton was also used as word processor, a Rolodex, copy and paste, search function, multitasking, an audio recorder, a clock, a calculator and as Internet browser.The iPhone consists of apps whereas in Newton it’s not available. The battery life of Newton is very good compared to iPhone.

In Newton serial connector cables were used to send data on and off to its internal storage. The IrDa protocol is used by port that can be well-matched with other IrDa devices.The Newton has two PC Card slots and it permits to upgrade the device with all types of peripherals. Also from memory card reader to a wireless 3G modem can be connected to a Newton.

The iPhone has Wi-Fi, and 3G connectivity, USB port,  after the iPhone version 3.0 it included bluetooth, MMS and HSDPA. The iPhone doesn’t have memory card slot whereas it supports to email, text and picture message, tweeting, Facebook, Skyping and others.  .

The iPhone consists of wireless communication hardware and software and it has iTunes store and an MP3 player. Even the Newton can play music through iTunes by downloading the Mad Max app and let’s to play MP3 files, Icecast or Shoutcast streams.
