Drigg – the “express” way

Installing Drupal this way is a little easier. It’s basically a Drupal installation where every single step described in the “manual way” has already been carried out.
Step 1: Install Drupal

Please follow the instructions in the next section “Drigg – the manual way” – but only Step 1, and using Drigg Drupal rather than the official Drupal package.

Please remember to change the file [your_drupal_dir]/sites/default/settings.php($db_url = ‘mysqli://user:pass@localhost/dbname’;) so that it contains your database information. Also keep in mind to follow the instructions so that you can enable “Clean URLs”. Drigg will only ever work with “CLean URLs” active!
Step 2: Load information into your database

Now, load the database dump [your_drupal_dir]/sql_restore/drigg6.sql into your Drupal database. You can do this from the command line by typing (assuming that the database name is drigg_db):

cat drigg_distr_sql.mysql | mysql drigg_db

Important note: the main user’s name is “admin”, the password is “driggit”. You NEED to change this as soon as you log in.

Step 3: Customise it!

At this point, you will want to change some of the information that comes “in stock” with this prepackaged version:

* Username, email addresses and passwords for the users “admin” and “admin user”. Go to Administer -> User Management -> Users
* The “site’s” email address. Go to Administer -> Site Configuration -> Site information

Step 4: That’s it!

You might want to go through the step below, so that you know what the step would have been if you hadn’t been lazy.

It would be useful if u can come out with EXPRESS Install for DRIGG RSS IMPORTER that comes with Drigg module. I am having problem in exporting the RSS feeds as Drigg scoop ( Do we need to add addition fields (URL, TITLE, Description) in the db – similar to the Pligg RSS importer setup procedure. Look forward for a fresh post with improved setup details.

    Thanks in advance.

Please note that there are several security vulnerablities with 6.6 Drupal included in this package. Can the 6.8 Drupal be repackaged instead?

If not will simply copying 6.8 core files rewriting over 6.6 do? Any problem with Drigg if it is done so?

Apparently there are no major bugs – so can it now come out of beta and be announced as at least RC1 ?

We’re looking for a developer to install drigg on a new site – is anyone available? This would be a paid project.

    Hi,

As asked before, how can we update it to the 6.8 ? Just overwriting the core files ?

Thank you in advance for answering.

I always wanted to write in my blog something like that. Can I take part of your post to my blog?

If you notice carefully, all versions of Drigg have a major loading bug. The homepage loads altogether instead of bits and pieces, which means that the visitor has to stare at a big blank screen until the page has finished loading.

Has anyone found a fix to this bug yet? I was really hoping that this version would have taken care of it!
